1899 Strowger 10 Digit Automatic Wall Telephone
In the earlier days of the history of the Strowger Automatic telephone dial
system, both the vertical and rotary motions of all central office switches
were directly controlled by dial impulses. It was not until the year 1899
that the rotary motion became automatic. The 10 digit automatic was made in
both wall and desk versions. This wall set was found and purchased in the
home of an elderly gentleman in the town of Albany, Oregon. He said "I've
had it all my life and can't remember where I got it" This set is no longer
part of the Christianson Telephone Collection. It is now located in a
telephone museum on the east coast.
