As a retired employee of Atea, a telephone manufacturing company in Belgium (who was owned by Automatic Electric) I admired your website, especially the Automatic Electric phone, a real beauty!
See http://home.scarlet.be/jan.verhelst/atea/atea_english.htm for the history of "my" company.

Recently acquired by accident a WE 302 Old Rose in working order. Even has a button to turn the ringer on or off. Has fired an interest in old phones. My father, granfather and two uncles worked for Illinois bell from about 1910 to 1980. I guess it's in my genes!

Great site. I worked at western electric,AT&T Lucient tec. Fron 1965 to 1995. I have seen all kinds of destruction of fine telephone products. they ust to burn them (wall sets) like cord wood.

my father saved an 1879 top box or wall
set from a fire in 1978 at the time it was almost 100 years old. The Grandkids
and GreatGrand kids believe it's something Dad built. But I know better I
remember when it came home. When we where grounded Dad said this is the only phone you my use. Ha Ha. Have a great day
